February 23, 2017

Global Automakers testified before the Wisconsin State Assembly Committee on Jobs and the Economy's informational hearing on automated and connected vehicle technology. Global Automakers congratulated the state of Wisconsin and in particular, the University of Wisconsin – Madison for being designated a “proving ground” by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Proving grounds will play a key role in accelerating innovation as well as enabling the public and policymakers to learn about the benefits of automated vehicle technology. Global Automakers’s testimony also highlighted concerns with the level of state activity seeking to restrict automated vehicle testing practices and noted that NHTSA’s Federal Automated Vehicle Policy is an important first step toward a consistent national approach for this burgeoning technology.
